2006 Sunset – June 14

June 14th - Crew tonight was Dick, Art, Demitri, Frank, Jim and Linda (Reggie had to cancel at the last minute for personal reasons). The wind was blowing fairly good about 3pm but kept building until we left the dock at 5:15pm. The wind and seas were so heavy that the RC cancelled the race. Pendragon IV reported winds of 23-24 kts true at the time. So, we returned to the club for a leisurely dinner. Afterwards, some of us attended the One-Design Show on the docks in front of the club. They got a pretty good turnout and hopefully some folks will buy boats as a result.

With tonight's race cancelled this means there will only be 18 races held. The Sailing Instructions provide for final series standings to be based on a boat's best 16 scores. With 19 races that would have meant a boat's worst 3 scores would be "discarded." Now, with only 18 races that means a boat's worst 2 scores will be "discarded." However, this doesn't make any real difference since all boats would have discarded tonight's race (1.0 pts) anyway.

We are looking forward to next week's race.
